Abstract
The McDaniel Slough Wetland Enhancement and Restoration Project resulted in the restoration and enhancement of 212 acres of former tidal brackish and salt-water habitat, freshwater wetlands, and upland ecosystems. Tidal influence was restored to McDaniel Slough, creating anadromous fish habitat by re-connecting the slough to Humboldt Bay. The project was an extension of and immediately adjacent to a 2007 restoration project in the same slough. This document includes the Coastal Conservancy Staff Recommendation for funding the project, project locations and site map, and CEQA documentation. Work was authorized under CDP 1-03-036, and a portion of the funding came from eelgrass mitigation funds paid by Coast Seafoods Company (under CDP E-06-003) and the Stuvyesant/Kure oil spill mitigation paid into the Coastal Trust Fund.
