Abstract
On August 23, 1983, the California Coastal Commission granted to Humboldt County Department of Public Works Humboldt Bay Harbor Recreation and Conservation District: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers this permit for development. The development included the construction of a 1,200 foot steel pile and wood lagging groin as an erosion control structure to contain a restored beach and armoring of this groin with rock rubble. 2) Placement of 600,000 cubic yards of sand west of Buhne Drive in a 24 acre area for beach replenishment and planting of this area in beach grass. 3) Dredging of 600,000 cubic yards of beach replenishment sand from the west side of North Bay channel. 4) Regrading and widening of Buhne Drive to 40 feet in width, addition of five foot sidewalks. 5) Replacement of the existing rock at a lower elevation. 6) Relocation of existing utilities (gas, electric, sewage, water, cable TV) underground on the east side of Buhne Drive.
