Abstract
Humboldt Bay is California's second-largest estuary and supports ecologically, commercially, and culturally important resources, yet comprehensive habitat mapping had not been updated for decades. This presentation outlines the planning, acquisition and application of high resolution aerial imagery collected during optimal low-tide windows, resulting in a comprehensive dataset used to classify intertidal habitats throughout Humboldt Bay. The imagery and habitat products have since been widely adopted by federal, state, local, and academic organizations to support resource management, habitat restoration, invasive species monitoring, and scientific research.
