Abstract
The Butcher Slough Wetland Restoration Project Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) evaluates the potential environmental impacts associated with the proposed Butcher Slough Restoration Project in Arcata, California. The City of Arcata proposed restoring a 30-acre abandoned lumber mill site by converting the existing log pond into a productive estuary and wetland through estuary realignment and habitat enhancement restoration. The project was designed to improve habitat quality for aquatic species and wetland vegetation while increasing the extent of estuarine and marsh habitat. The EIR identifies potential environmental impacts associated with restoration activities and evaluates mitigation measures intended to minimize adverse effects while achieving restoration objectives.
