Abstract
The Second and Third Slough Sewer Line Project (1985) replaced deteriorated sewer lines in the Second and Third Slough marshes of Humboldt Bay. In order to mitigate impacts to 15,352 square feet of wetlands, a restoration plan was implemented that included manual revegetation, enhancement of degraded salt marsh habitat, and the restoration of rare plant populations. This Botanical Review and Mitigation Plan, prepared by Gail Newton, addresses the presence of two rare plant species, the Owl Clover and Humboldt Bay gum plant, within the project site and outlines measures to minimize project impacts and protect these sensitive species.
