Episode Description
G: I’ve got Julia Butterfly on the line, Hi Julia!
J: Hello Geraldine!
G: So, they are having a rally in San Francisco on the 24th which is the eight-year anniversary of the bombing, and they want the fiddle back. What do you know about this?
J: Well, you know Judi Bari was such an incredible powerful spokesperson, and more than that, she was so wonderful at bridging the gap between the workers and the environmentalists and helping all of us to understand that we are all in this together. And she had an ability to bring about thousands of people in her organizing skills and her beautiful way of outreach, and that power and what she began is still something that is flowing from that today, and because of that amazing power she had, she was targeted for many, many threats and acts of violence, including being rammed by the logging truck and being the victim of an incredible car bomb that almost took her life. And on top of that, the FBI showing up within minutes, and blaming her and Daryl for transporting a bomb that, after the real evidence came out, was proven that there was no way they were carrying a bomb of such nature in such a spot, and one of the other victims of the car bombing was the fiddle, and they took her fiddle and they have yet to give it back. There is no reason why they should still have it, there is no reason why they should have taken it in the first place. So people are going there to say “Hey, look, this is one of the many travesties of what happened and we demand to have her fiddle back.”
