Abstract
This thesis examined issues and events related to the transformation of Indonesian society from 1950-1965. The argument was made that long term historical transformations have influenced the conditions of post-colonial Indonesia. In this light, the historical relationships between Indonesia and Holland were examined in detail. The worldsystems perspective was utilized to explain the social structures and social actions of the time period (1950- 1965). In doing this, several major premises of worldsystems analysis were underscored. In conclusion, suggestions for further research were also purposed.
