Abstract
Organizations have deep reaching implications for all members of society. We are all affected by and involved with organizations on many different levels, whether religious, economic, military, or educational. There are many different reasons: a person may need to make a living; someone may desire a common goal and a sense of accomplishing that goal with others; or one may simply have the desire to belong and feel needed. Directly or indirectly, organizations influence just about everything and everybody. In general terms, "an organization is a social system of structured roles and tasks which require coordination and communication to achieve a connion purpose."1 I would like to put emphasis on the individual roles and say that organizations are comprised of groups which in turn are made up of individuals. People are like bricks in the huge wall that is an organization. Without these bricks to build and support the wall, the organization could not stand.
