Description

Various forms of information control (indexing, thesaurus maintenance, and classification) are in part done in a borderline situation between the library profession and other identities. Such activities may involve use of volunteers, some of whom are located outside library and information science, or they are done by individuals who identify strongly with marginalized communities. This study looks at both structural and membership borderland status using grounded theory and aligns the findings with concepts derived from Borderland Studies.
