Description

This is a transcript of an oral history interview with Key, a Cal Poly Humboldt Alum who graduated in the same semester as the protests. She did not attend her graduation because of uneasy feelings about the situation, but did attend her Latinx graduation. She was also a protester, deciding to join after seeing the events of the first day. There was a strong sense of community amongst the protesters. However, she also describes that later on in the protest, there were differing ideas on how to proceed. She notes a feeling that the BIPOC protesters were not being appropriately considered in planning. She remembers being very fearful of the police presence and feeling unsafe while protesting, and simultaneously creating happy memories with some of her fellow protesters. Regardless, she describes the protest as successful in spreading awareness about Palestine.
