Description

This is an oral history interview transcript with Mary Bockover, a professor in the Philosophy department at Cal Poly Humboldt. She has worked at the campus since 1989 and notably researches Asian philosophy. She argues that the protest on campus was not peaceful, especially with property damage. She also notes that faculty should have done a more effective job at educating students on the nuanced reality of relations between Israelis and Palestinians. She worries that, while the Israeli administration deserves significant admonishment for the crimes against humanity they are perpetrating, she wants the individuals in Israel not to be lumped into a generalized group. She does critique the president for not trying to engage with the protesters in a way that could have de-escalated the conflict. Thank you to Mary for her revisions to this transcript.
