Description

Some forms of knowledge work appear to exist in-between professions and to resist full professionalization. The article uses grounded theory to investigate expert labor in the organization of knowledge (indexing, cataloguing and thesaurus construction) which has not been fully captured by professional librarians. It is proposed that Borderlands Theory, derived from Chicano Studies, may provide insights into this form of work.
