About This Journal

Academic Labor: Research and Artistry is a peer-reviewed open access academic journal launched in 2016 by the Center for the Study of Academic Labor (CSAL) at Colorado State University. The journal seeks to motivate ongoing research on matters relating to labor in the academy. Along with the center and web site, ALRA is a research home for those undertaking scholarship in areas broadly defined as tenure studies and contingency studies.

Academic Labor: Research and Artistry encourages a wide range of contributions, from the statistical to the historic/archival, from the theoretical to the applied, from empirical to aesthetic forms. Our contributors, editors and reviewers include social scientists, artists, activists, and theorists specializing in labor issues.

ALRA publishes one volume per year with an evolving number of issues that are paginated separately. Multimodal approaches that include image and audio files are welcome.

ALRA occasionally publishes special issues. To suggest a topic or to propose a special issue as a guest editor, please query editors, Sue Doe and Sarah Austin.
