Abstract
Hospice of Humboldt (HoH) provides training to community volunteers who facilitate grief support groups. The purpose of this community project was to develop curriculum for the HoH's Grief Support Services volunteer training program that incorporated experiential learning to promote self-reflection and cultural competency awareness among current facilitators. The curriculum was presented at a volunteer training over two days in December 2014. Activities for this project included guided imagery exercises and reflections related to death and dying, personal awareness of cultural biases, and information related to other cultural practices in relation to grief and loss. Three participants were given a pre- and post-evaluation to measure their understanding of the key training topics.
