Abstract
Youth aging out of foster care are a vulnerable population who often lack the emotional and financial support needed to succeed in the transition to independent adulthood. Assembly Bill 12 (AB 12) was signed into law in September 2010 as a means to improve the outcomes of foster care by providing extended support for youth who qualify under the bill. The Youth Service Bureau is in process of getting licensed as a Transitional Housing Plus Foster Care (THP+FC) Provider. This will allow YSB to receive the funding made available to support AB12 youth in Humboldt County. The purpose of this project is the creation of a website for case managers working with AB12 youth. The website will help case managers to prepare and engage in the effective implementation of AB12 and the THP+FC program regardless of their educational background, experience with these programs or time working at the Youth Service Bureau. THP+FC programs are geared toward a population that has experienced trauma, the website also provides easily accessed essential information about trauma informed and positive youth development approaches. The website also facilitates the ability of the Youth Service Bureau and its case managers to document experience and knowledge regarding the implementation of the THP+FC program and to continuously update and improve website content.
