Abstract
This study was undertaken to add to present knowledge of the life history of the common egret, to determine the implications of a recently constructed highway close to the Indian Island rookery, and to present data which would be beneficial to the future management of nesting rookeries and related egret habitats. Because the construction of the highway bridge near the rookery had potential detrimental effects, one purpose of the study was to document any changes in the breeding behavior and nesting of the common egret and related species.
