Abstract

Infusing mindfulness into an ecological approach to school psychological practices during my internship year provided a foundation for effectively supporting the school community I served. Developing a mindfulness practice helped me to improve the balance between my personal and professional life while developing a stronger ability to be present with others. Mindful practices supported my development of unconditional positive regard, empathy, and compassion during the delivery of school psychological services. Mindfulness gave me a tool for improved personal emotional regulation and provided tools for teaching emotional regulation to children. Developing a practice of mindfulness provided a framework to engage in self-care, accept outcomes, participate in effective problem solving, and develop a reflective practice. Mindfulness provided a pathway to meet others where they are. The products included in my e-portfolio provide evidence of my competencies in the domains of school psychology. This project reflects the features of mindfulness used as a foundation for the delivery of school psychological services during my internship year.
