Abstract

Rural communities offer unique challenges for individual families, schools, and the community as a whole. Limited resources with high rates of poverty, mental health challenges and substance abuse add a new element to the needs of students and schools in the community. Social/emotional, mental health and safety of students on an individual, group, and community basis are important aspects of practice in rural communities. The work conducted during this school psychology internship include cognitive and behavioral assessment, collaboration and consultation, suicide assessment, crisis counseling, and much more. This portfolio and body of work demonstrates my competence within the ten domains of learning as a practicing School Psychologist, as defined by the Humboldt State University School Psychology Program.
