Abstract
The child welfare and dependency court systems are complex and can be overwhelming for the families who enter into them. This is further compounded by the trauma and chaos that led to the removal of one's children from their care as well as the trauma of the removal itself. In an effort to partner with families for their successful navigation of the systems, families need to be provided materials to assist them in making informed decisions. The purpose of this project was to gather the information needed to create a county specific family guide to child welfare that explains the process while recognizing trauma and its impact on learning and retaining information.
