Description

"California’s historic drought and increased water demands are taking its toll on our rivers and its bumming Eric Stockwell out. As a kayak and fishing tour operator with Loleta Eric’s Guide Service, Stockwell regularly gets up close and personal with our local waterways, the Eel River in particular, and he’s very concerned about the deteriorating situation he’s witnessing.

“It’s so hard to watch the slow death of the Eel and the continued decline of its fisheries,” Stockwell wrote in a recent post discussing this year’s low river flows. On this week’s episode of Humboldt Holding Up, the Lost Coast Outpost‘s somehow-still-operational podcast experiment, Stockwell shares about the distressing conditions he’s seeing locally and why he believes a culture shift toward a better understanding of our natural world is necessary to preserve our environmental resources going forward."
