It was a public (until 1949-1950) school built by Little River Redwood Company for children at Crannell, Little River Valley and Westhaven, the area of Little River District. The third Little River District school built; this four room school had six classes the last year (1949-1950). The extra classes used part of the basement and a little PTA building behind the main building (for first grade). The third grade was in the (exposed) basement. Wood from this building was used in 1950-1951 in a home in Trinidad at the corner of View and West St. The building was all redwood. The two platforms were 2 x 12 redwood.
